CLEAR HACC LogoHoward Area Community Center is a social service agency that provides affordable and free education, employment, and health assistance programs for over 8,000 community members in the greater Rogers Park area of Chicago. At HACC, adults learn how to speak English and use a computer for the first time. Youth receive tutoring and help finding a job. Parents have a high quality preschool for their children and support raising their family—and so many more life-sustaining services! Since the spring of 2017, the CWP has partnered with HACC to offer writing workshops to adult ESL students and publish their stories, in collaboration with HACC instructors.  Spring and fall workshops took place weekly for 8 weeks and finished with a public reading and the preparation of a booklet of participants’ stories.
